Exploring Tree Bark Texture
Wednesday, May 6th – 7:30 – 9:00 pm
Join us for this month’s Open Studio & mini technique lesson focused on drawing and painting texture in nature—specifically tree bark.
Mini Technique Lesson: Exploring Tree Bark Texture ✨
We’ll begin with a guided mini lesson focused on observing and creating the rich textures found in tree bark using simple drawing and painting techniques.
You’ll learn how to break bark down into layers of line, shape, and shadow, helping you create depth, character, and a natural feel in your work. We’ll also explore the idea of texture—both smooth and built up—using brushes and simple tools to bring your tree to life.
Along the way, we’ll notice how no two trees are the same, and how texture can reflect time, strength, and growth.
This is a chance to slow down, observe more closely, and build confidence in your drawing and painting.
🎨 After the mini lesson, you can:
- Continue practicing tree bark studies in your Dream Journal
- Expand your textures into a larger nature-inspired piece
- Experiment with colored pencils, ink, watercolor, or mixed media
- Or work on your own project during Open Studio time
